Always an artist…
I came to acting later in life because I got sick. But looking back, I see that I was always an artist. It took losing my hair and nearly losing my life to find my way back to my true self! And what an adventure it has been!
I grew up playing classical piano, dancing, writing plays, singing in the choir and performing plays in school. I had incredible teachers during my youth and felt inspired to teach in order to give back. I taught for twenty-five years and thought life would never change much. Then I got sick. Then I retired. Then I was reborn.
Before treatment, I buzzed my hair off in a blaze of glory. When it all grew back a magnificent gray, folks suggested I model. Getting stronger and knowing that I could achieve anything, I went for it.
Modeling led me to print and commercial work with A3 Artists Agency. From there, I leapt headfirst into the acting world: from short films and television, a recurring role in a web series as well as off-off Broadway and beyond. I continue to hone my craft both on stage and on-camera.
Cut to today: I just shot a 3-day principal on a major cable network series! There is no stopping me now. I followed my bliss, and every day is a new and glorious surprise!
There is always something new to learn and discover. My path has taught me it is never too late to begin again; to re-ignite passions that lie dormant within our souls. And of course, I would be nowhere without my life-long practice of yoga, which I share with others as a certified instructor.
I’ve always been an artist. I am now understanding exactly what it means to embrace that part of myself. Do I know what the future holds? No. Can I have it all and share it with the world? The answer is a resounding yes.
